Portstar Plastics was founded by James and Sandra Lucas in June 2002 on their return to New Zealand after some time in Australia, where James developed his extensive plastic engineering experience in the Australian mining and fishing industries. Initially, James focused on the development of navigational marker buoys. It is a testament to the quality of design and manufacturing that most of these markers are still fully operational in Auckland and Northland harbours.
In October 2017 Mark Jeffries and Zelda de Villiers purchased the business from the Lucas family. Mark and Zelda bring with them over 50 years of management experience gained in Australia, South Africa, Sweden and New Zealand. Both have a passion for working with high performing teams who deliver exceptional customer service, in a positive and fun work environment.
Based in the Kaipara region we are proud employers in rural Northland while being in close proximity to Auckland customers.
